H. Hermann Schleich, Prof. Dr. rer. nat, Dr. habil., born 1952 in Munich. Studies in zoology, palaeontology and geology at Munich universities. Ph-thesis in palaeo-herpetology, lecturer and professor at Munich university (LMU). Various field research on herptiles, special emphasizes on palaeoherpetology of Caenozoic of Europe, neoherpetological investigations on ultrastructures of skin and eggshells. Systematics, biology and distribution of reptiles from North Africa, Cabo Verde, Iran, Indian subcontinent. Author of several books, monographs and research volumes and of many different scientific contributions in neo- and palaeoherpetology. Since 1989 active in Nepal contributing with conservation programs, research and lecture programs in palaeontology, museology, and herpetology. Chairman of ARCO-Nepal reg.soc. (Amphibian and Reptile Conservation of Nepal) since its foundation in 1997.
